String Sightings

I spent the weekend making this--now to quilt and bind.

Strings are extremely popular!  Carrie sent me a link to a challenge Stacey is hosting called  It's A String  Thing Challenge.  She's still accepting participants if anyone is interested that didn't get to join my challenge.  Go have a look.  Lots of inspiration.  Thanks Carrie.

Update--As of this writing I have counted 90 finished string projects.  WOWZER!  Basket liner, needlebooks, placemats, pillows, potholders, pincushions, quilts, zippy pouches, aprons, wallhangings.  You ladies are really amazing.  Have you made a dent in your stash piles?  I've been playing with rick rack.

Yes - my strip pile is depleting my stash. I needed a small piece of black yesterday and, of course, had used the last piece in a string block - so now I need to go buy a piece of black. Somedays you just can't win.

My strip pile is getting bigger. Everytime I make something I make the leftovers in to stripes. So I have to make more stripe blocks. So I working om my stripes. I love your table runner with rick racks

The buttons and ric rac complement the strings perfectly! Very pretty indeed.

Beautiful Spring colours in your runner. Cute Easter basket. :-)

Yes I am definately depleting my odd bits now. There was just shavings of the Halloween colours left when I finished those tops. The rainbow colours just have small odd shapes left- applique maybe. Definate stash busting progress here. :-) Fun! Thanks for hosting.

This little basket block is so cute and what a good way to do a string block. Thanks for all the great ideas.

Oh my, I still have quite a stash to work through! I guess that shows how much fabric I've been storing over the years. I do find myself running low on some colors or values though.

This weekend I bought a book on string quilts so maybe I'll be motivated to use up even more of my fabric!

Sweet pastel colours in your table runner!
By now I have made 55 string in blocks 7.5" squares, but no visible dent in my stash! Together with the 10 pillowcases there is some difference to be seen. I need to work harder!

I just love the tablerunner. So my colors. And it suits the cabinet perfectly! I love the linen border.
The basket looks very sweet too!

Seems pink in on your mind lately. The tablerunner is sweet and the basket--well, the ric rac handle is inspired!

Hi Stephanie,
Do you know how much I had to catch up with on your blog. My goodness you've been busy and your sewing room looks wonderful. I love all the string quilt creations and I'll have to show you a quilt I did for my show using a honey bun not my stash, but it's just like using strings. Love the stash buster though and boy do I need to do that.
So good to catch up with you and will be looking forward to part 2 of the sewing room. Hubby did a great job on your sewing table.
Keep Stitchen'

Those are just like the baskets we are making in our quilt group this year. What a great way to use strings for them! Love it.
