Parade of Strings/Viewer's Choice

***Is anyone having trouble voting?  Of all days for blogger to have gadget issues.  If you're having problems and would like to vote please feel free to send me your choices and I'll keep track the old-fashioned, reliable, pencil and paper way!

290 string projects made by 78 of the 151 participants.  WOW.  Quilts, wallhangings, table runners, needle books, book covers, sachets, tissue holders, pot holders, tea cozies, placemats, bags, pouches, doorstop, scissor holders, pincushions, camera case, Kindle covers, quillow, baskets--endless creativity from such a fantastic group!!!  I'm just sorry I couldn't highlight each and every project but I hope you visit the participants on my side bar and see some of their creations.

Before we begin the Parade I'd like to say many words:  It was quite a feat scrolling through blogs and certainly not an easy task to narrow down which projects to select for the Parade of Strings.  I've tried to share a variety  to represent different styles, colors, etc...Each and every project made by all of you, big and small, dozens or just one, is creative and I hope you all enjoyed the challenge and felt a sense of accomplishment using what you had while taming your stash.  Some of you have started amazing quilts but couldn't get to the finish line.  I hope when you do you'll send me a photo.
ss
This post also everyone reading this post (not just participants) the opportunity to vote on one project from each category--String Quilts and Non-Quilt String projects.  While viewing these projects please excuse any photos that aren't clear.  Some didn't "translate" as well from one blog to another.  I've provided each maker's link so you can go visit and see the "first generation" photo and read about the project before casting your vote on my side bar.  I've received permission from most everyone to share their projects--to those of you I was unable to contact or you were unable to reply to me (summertime is vacation time) I hope you don't mind me sharing your project.
s
Grab a cup of tea or coffee and enjoy the parade.  Prize winners will be announced on July 4th.

I applaud you for all that you have done, from hosting such a unique, fun project to gathering all the info necessary to have a parade.

Hugs and blessings to you, Stephanie. I will send you an email with my votes.

But to be quite honest - my BIGGEST vote is for YOU.

Oh wow what a delight for my eyes. I think everyone in the parade is a winner. Some fabulous stash busting has gone on.

It was so hard to pick only 1 from each or the 2 catagories. Thank you for letting us vote.

Great parade! It took me ages to go through all the links, and I can just imagine how much work you have put in this challenge. You have inspired so many quilters to make room for new fabrics.

All I can saw is WOW! These are some of the prettiest string quilts and projects I've seen. I know you've been working hard to host his wonderful parade. Thanks so much for sharing.

We certainly have rid the world of zillions of leftover string scraps, haven't we ! ! !
Thank You, Stephanie. My stash has not been this lean since the beginning of my quilting era.

Thanks for all your hard work, Stephanie both for hosting the string challenge and for putting the parade together. Seeing everyone's work indicates just how successful your challenge was. I for one would never have made a string project had you not done this because not only did I not know how, I didn't even know what it was. Now I know the BEST way to use up my strings!

My only question is where are the baton twirlers and the marching bands? Every parade needs those...right? *wink*

Suzie said...

A beautiful parade, thanks, Stephanie! I had to take some time to decide, it was not easy to choose!

Marie said...

Stephanie - such a fun project and so many great ideas on how to use the stash. I loved it. By the way, I did vote on both categories.

Thank you - Marie
