Comforts of Home

June started off with gloom.  We need rain so it's a good thing.  In case it's cool while my parents are visiting I put a granny blanket on the bed for extra warmth in case Dad gets cold.  My Aunt Mary Jane made this granny blanket over 30 years ago.  I have used it every year since receiving it and use it more often than a quilt.

Magazines for Mom to flip through as she settles in the the eve.  I put the Connecting Threads on top because Mom will like seeing that her daughter is published.  :o)

With the 3 hour time difference I prepared a little snack tray.  The antique oak chair belonged to Mr. Creation's family.  We have the complete dining room set.  The quilt is a grandmother's fan.  The label says 1995 (once upon a time I did labels).  I was a new quilter and won the blocks at my local quilt shop's monthly drawing.  I put the blocks together and a lady machine quilted it for me and I gifted to Mr. Creation's favorite aunt.  When Aunt Rose passed away the quilt came back to me. This guest room is filled with lots of special treasures.  I think my guests will feel right at home.

Now Abby and I are off the the vet to have her stitches removed.

When your parents leave, please put Mr. Squash and I down for reservations! This is one B&B not to be passed up!
I hope Abby gets a new toy for being such a good girl with her stitches.
Cheers!

Lovely soft colours in the granny blanket. The tray is a good idea, and your mother will love the magazines, especially with your work in one of them. Best wishes to Abby!

Ah, the joy of feeling welcomed. Your hospitality and consideration seems to have no limits. It's good :) I have developed a little tradition with my mom. We always try to put out a bouquet of wild flowers for each other when visiting no matter what season it is. Hence I've been seen digging in snow in Febrauary to see if I could find little signs of spring underneath and my mom has been know to dry flowers in August to surprise me in December.

What a wonderfully cozy afghan that is! I love the soft variegated neutrals in a big granny square...much better than the traditional granny framed in black! Love the snack tray too...such nice hospitality!

Think I could sneak in between your Mom and Dad without them noticing? I could settle in quite nicely in your guest room with all the comforts of home plus a few extras.

How did Abby make out?
