How do you secure your binding when sewing? I have always used straight pins, often poking myself until I bleed. An occasional bad word slips past my lips. I don't like the hair clip things. I gave those a try. So back to straight pins.
A perfectly named new product by Clover is on the market -- Wonder Clips. Bought them. Tried them. Love them. For this project I'm calling them Kitty Clips. You can find them HERE at Connecting Threads. JoAnn Fabrics also carries them. Don't forget your coupon!
*FYI -- I am not a spokesperson for Connecting Threads and receive no monetary compensation. I just happen to like them a lot. They have terrific products, prices, and the best customer service.
Sometimes I forget that my international readers aren't familiar with things I write freely about. Simone sent me THIS terrific link for anyone interested in reading a little history on feed sacks. Thank you Simone. I have Glenna Hailey's Sugar Sack Quilts book in my library. It's my main resource book for all things feed sack. I have learned so much from Glenna. In case you didn't know she has a terrific blog.
I recently added Vintage Feed Sacks -- Fabric From the Farm by Susan Miller to my library.
Picked up my crochet hook again. Baby steps. Only an hour at a time so I don't give myself a horrible case of tendonitis again.
OK, that's enough links for you to click on for today.

I didn't realize JoAnn's carries the clips! I have to look for them next time I go there. They were a bit pricey at the quilt shop.
Well, thanks for the shout out, my dear friend! LOVIN' those new feedsacks! I definitely have to find those clips. Have a super day!!
Oooh and they are on sale at CT. I've used the hair clips, just because I lose them and they are easy to buy and pretty inexpensive. Beautiful crocheting!
I use the hair clips, maybe I should try your instead :-)
I used to pin my bindings but now I just fold them and hold them with my left hand as I go. It works great and no tools required.
I use hair clips but I think I should use those clips one day. Certainly hope CT will soon go international!
PS: books on feedsacks: terrific.
I love those clips! I've taken to flipping them upside down so the flat part of the clip is on top when you sew the binding - works really well for me. I can't stop oohhing and ahhing over those gorgeous feedsacks!
Cheers!
I love these clips too...and like Candace, I prefer them turned the other way...with the red portion on the front of the quilt.
I just urn my binding by hand as I go and I've never had a problem. I tried the ones that look like hair clips and they just got in the way. WHatever works, I guess.
WHat are you crocheting? The colors are gorgeous. Sometimes I wish that I could crochet but there are only so many hours in a day. I'll drool over your progress instead.
With respect to the feedsacks, I'm still soooo jealous!
i will have to look into those clips! im the type that needs the whole binding pinned and am constantly poking and yelling nasty words... i never find vintage feed sacks up here.. i have alot of aprons made from them tho.. love the prints! the books look great! enjoy your day!!
I use hair clips on my binding but not the ones that snap. I use the open ended ones that hair salons use on rollers. Very cheap for 200 clips!
So glad you picked up your hook. Welcome to the club, I crochet every night.
I used those hair clip things until I got some of those clips as a gift. I really like them too.
Love that yarn you are using.
I checked out the wonder clips at my local quilt shop and they were $33. Yikes. Thanks for your link for a much better price.
What stitch are you using for your crochet item? I've never seen it before. I like the "solid" look of it.
I had those wonder clips as a present and I love them. Now I can get them locally too. - Great info about the feedsacks. Your crocheting looks very pretty! Just don't overdo it.
I hate the hairclips but I love those Wonder Clips! Won't use anything else and I didn't know Joann's carried them either, hmmm :D. Love the crochet!
Good tip on the clips. I've used the hair clips. But DD stills them when she makes fabric flowers for her hair so I'm forever out.
Not to burst anyone's bubble….but I don't understand the need for a whole bunch of clips (or pins). I use one pin or one clip (possibly two) and move it along my binding as I sew. I'm waaaay to lazy to do any more than that. :-)
The binding clips are brilliant! I use hair clips, but I like the real deal better. ;-)
Your crochet...divine. The colour is beautiful, Stephanie. What stitch is that?
Hugs
Jenny
I've heard a lot of good things about the clips. I need to pick some up and give them a try.
Thanks for sharing the feedsack link. I got a little sidetracked over there, but bookmarked it to look at later.
Your crochet stitches look so perfect, and I really dig those colors!
I'm with you on 'poking myself til I bleed' when it comes to binding. I just bound a quilt this week and tried the hair clips with great success - I was almost giddy. But these look very neat and tidy too - thanks for the suggestion.
Pretty clips. I just sort of hold it as I sew.
More lovely feed sacks.
Such pretty crochet yarn.
Thank you for the tip! They look very sturdy too! Beautiful shots of your feed sack pieces :)
Thanks for suggesting those clips. Indeed to try some. I think they would make bindings a whole lot easier.
I saw these about a year ago and went to my local quilt shop to see if they had them. Unfortunately theu did not. Last time I was there however I saw them as I was leaving but I was in a hurry so I'll definately get some next time.
For now its just a big hair clip - not the best but it works better than pins
Great seeing your washer in prop-action. It IS really lovely :)
Clever Clover! They look excactly like the clips on pants hangers, but much smaller!
I use the clips that come with my husband’s new shirts. The shirts are neatly folded the clips keep everything in place.
