Not Quite Purple

When I discovered my favorite local antique mall about 5 years ago this was one of my first purchases.  A flat fold of a printed panel.  I'm not a purple gal but this spoke to me.

It was in such lovely condition and there was several continuous yards.

Notice the polka dots on the baskets, birds, and flowers?

Another close-up

I did google M. Lowenstein and Sons.  While I am unable to determine the exact era of the fabric it is an older print.  You can read more about the company HERE.

Yes, I really did use it.  I made a sweet quilt with coordinating pin dot prairie points and a wide border that I want to scallop.  I recently found this in a bin with the rest of the unused fabric.  I even have the sweetest purple and white flannel for the back.  I've never finished because apparently you need to mark the scallops before it's quilted.  Hmmm...I've never scalloped and I have yet to take the plunge.

If  you would like some of your own I do have one listing that can be found HERE.

Have a wonderful weekend.

I adore this kind of purple/blue - my favourite dress is in this color (which is funny because purple in general is the color I most struggle to appreciate). We call the color Lavender here in Denmark. Beautifully presented... But scallops would scare me too :)

It has a delicate lacy look and the color is very pleasant! Finishing it with that flannel you picked will make it snuggly and cute!

It's so pretty, Stephanie and the prairie points are perfect. Reminds me of Easter for some reason.
Cheers!

that is a fascinating piece of fabric. I think it is neat that you figured out some way to use it.

That is a pretty purple--I tend to like the darker shades in my quilts but this yardage is wonderful! Love your prairie points. Hope you get your scallops worked out on paper before cutting your fabric. Heather Mulder Peterson has a good tutorial on scallops on her website (Anka's Treasures/Trends and Traditions)

It's not quite purple, more like periwinkle, you know that one crayon in the 64 count crayola box from years gone by? So pretty! I am happy that you use it. Thanks for sharing!

Lovely job Stephanie. When I did scallops, I made a template then drew on the line I was going to sew. The binding was done separately afterwards. It wasn't as hard as I expected.
