With the new year fast approaching I thought I'd share something I heart -- vintage tea towels, calendar tea towels, and awesome new tea towels too. Past projects using tea towels have been shown HERE and HERE. Although I have a sweet tea towel collection I do use them as well.
This one made my heart skip a beat. A special find because of the year -- 1959 -- the year I was born. Isn't it awesome? Interesting that the months are in Spanish. I love the green border too.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family Stephanie. And a special well wish for Abby!
Hi Stephanie: that's a great 1959 towel! I love the graphic nature of it, and the limited colours. and a great bag from another tea towel. I collect vintage tea towels as well, and made several Christmas ones into gift bags this year. I try not to pay more than $1 a piece at yard sales and thrift shops, and I have about 50 in my collection. Do you have any with my birth year 1961? My oldest one is 1967.
Very, very sweet! Love the bag you have created too! Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year too!
That's a very special tea towel, awesome! What a lucky friend, the bag is beautiful. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year! May all your wishes come true!
Love your Spanish tea towel, and the one turned into a gorgeous bag. No wonder at all that your friend loved it!!
Feliz Navidad! (and prospero ano de felicidad!)
Both towels are so cool. I love the graphic look of that era's linens. Merry Christmas!
Imagine the original owner of that tea towel and what the year 1959 must have meant to them! If they only knew now where it is now and how even more special it has become! I love bag and the button is perfect!
Cheers!

Wonderful find! I love your posts about using tea towels. My best find was a 50's Jamaican bongo beach party. Became an art quilt. You are inspiring. After a season of sewing gifts, I am ready to shift gears and sew some fun items. Happy Sewing and Happy Holidays.
Super cute!
Love the graphics on the mid century towels.
Kimberly :)
Happy Christmas and Merry New Year!!! And if you spot a 58 anywhere online send me the link!! I used to give my grandmothers (both of them) a tea towel calendar for Christmas every year. I keep thinking I should continue and find them for myself... maybe I will are better than they were for awhile!

Hi Stephanie!
You might consider my bag as a PIP.
I´m not shure if it is.
The pocket of my bag is an old block that I used now.
It´s so great to finish another UFO!
THANKS FOR HOSTING PIP`s!!!
