Another treasure from Mom's trunk. These snowballs and 9-patches are all hand pieced and measure 4 1/2" finished. I didn't measure the quilt top but it's big.
I call it Snowballs in the the Fields because my dad's sister, Nola married Roy Fields. Aunt Nola was married when she made this quilt, therefore a Fields. And she used to work the cotton fields too.
The quilt is in really terrific shape except for a stain or two and maybe a pulled seam but when I went to photograph the quilt I noticed writing on the back. The muslin fabric is Sugar Sacks! Dad's family is all from Texas too. I don't know the age of the quilt but it's an oldie for sure.

You have found some great treasures, and they are even more precious as they were made by your aunt. She would be so pleased that they are appreciated.

An oldie and a goodie. Thanks for sharing.
Knowing the history of a quilt makes it so special. What a treasure has been passed on to you. :) Wendy
I nearly fell off my chair when I opened your post ;>) The colors are still so bright! Another gorgeous heirloom! How wonderful!
Cheers!
That is another treasure, do you think it'll be quilted one day or are you leaving them as they are?
Wow!! How fortunate your are to have this family quilt. The fabrics in it are really interesting. I'm anxious to see what you do with this one. I'm still thinking about the last ones you showed.
Wonderful quilt! It is interesting to know that this quilt design is vintage, since it has been recycled as new and fresh in recent years. Great family history--so glad it wasn't given away. I like the name you gave it too :)
Such a beautiful quilt top. Love to see all the fabrics!
Lovely treasure! So good the top was not a finished quilt, otherwise you wouldn't have seen the text.
What a sweet treasure! I love all those old fabrics - what fun to see them. And the family history part is so much fun. Love the sugar sacks!

Are your intentions to finish these, Stephanie?
Very pretty the colours look a lot like the 1930s repros. Maybe it comes from that time?
