My daughter was fascinated by the tatting shuttles that belonged to Myrtie so she grabbed my camera and had a photo shoot. Those of you who are regular readers have heard about Myrtie's Treasures. It seems there was no end to Myrtie's talents.
Daughter Allison has good eyes so she could see some of the writing and did some research on the little beauties. These are all oldies.
Such delicate and intricate work

I shared THIS post a year ago. A member of Mr. Creation's family made this tatted beauty.

I know I've said this before, but tatting is the one thing I've always wanted to learn to do. Those shuttles are beautiful!
Beautiful shuttles! I tried to learn tatting when I inherited some old shuttles from the family, but I need a lot more practice!
What gorgeous shuttles and Allison has photographed them so beautifully! I'm sure Myrtie's treasures will live on for a long time to come!
Cheers!
Nice photo shoot. My female relations all did tatting, and I have some lacy pieces in the same pattern as you've shown here. Much of it went on collars & hankies. It really is so pretty and delicate. Wendy
Thank your daughter for her wonderful photo shoot. I enjoyed seeing the shuttles. Tatting is something I would someday like to learn.
I have one of great grandmother' s tatting hooks too. We have numerous of her doilies too. I also have her wooden knitting needles and some of her UFO's too.
I’ve never heard of tatting before. Those shuttles llok amazing and the lace too!!
One of my grandmothers did tatting and her mother brought some from Europe when they came here. I have it in my closet. I am afraid a basset with EAT it, he eats everything else. Most recently the bank bag we put the checks to deposit from CAAWS into.
Bad dog.
I didn't have a Myrtie, but I did have a Mrs. Herndon a next-door neighbor who tried to teach me the art of tatting. Sadly I could not control and tie as well as an 90 year old woman with arthritic hands. My preteen pride made me quit and just admire from afar.
How interesting! I don't really know that much about tatting, well I don't know anything about it really, but your post has made me want to research it a bit. What a treasure!
How COOL!!! I've always wanted to know more about tatting. The shuttles are so neat!!
Those tatting shuttles are beautiful. I tried tatting as a child-- being a child and impatient to get it right-as it is a difficult thing to do-I gave up pretty quickly.
I've never seen the tools, only the finished project. Interesting and nothing I'll ever be trying. Thanks for sharing.
I can't imagine how much patience is required to make these delicate and intricate patterns! They are stunning!
So fascinating! My aunt and grandmother did tatting, but I never had seen the shuttles before. Not only are the pieces that are made with them a work of art, but apparently so are the shuttles, they are gorgeous. Good eyes and patience too I bet!
Those shuttles are beautiful as is the tatted doily in the teapot shot.
I've dabbled in tatting and managed to produce a little bit but I doubt I'll ever get into it in a big enough way to do more than a bit of edging.
Margaret
I cannot imagine how this tatting is done but I can see that this is a lot of work...
those are neat. I don't even know how those tools are used to make those designs.
Beautiful shuttles and what a lovely treasure from Mr Creation's family - I'm enjyoing seeing your lovely collection.
