This weekend I soaked some lovely linens handmade by my grandma. Don't you love the waterlily and how she did the pillowslip edge? There is a pair of them.
Pardon the poor lighting. This coverlet is on top of my applique quilt for the photo.
This is a single piece of cloth (no seams) with blue stripes down the sides. The edges are hemmed and each side is edged with thread crochet. Isn't this medallion magnificent?
Here's a closer look at the embroidered flowers in the center.
In honor of my aunt's upcoming 83rd birthday I thought I'd share something special. This is her baby quilt also handmade by my grandma. Some of the black floss ran but overall it soaked beautifully. The baby's blanket is a piece of cloth was was somehow applied to the background then stitched to become the blanket design. There is no batting and no quilting.
Each of the four corners look like this. I love the hemstitch detail.
I'll be "off the grid" for a short while. Hopefully I'll have some fun photos to share when I get back.
