Waffles

Mail boxes = surprises

This is Waffles.  I "waffled" about quilting it myself but I was determined.  My indecisiveness about quilting it is not the reason for it's name.  The woven strips look like waffles to me.

It's published in Quilty Magazine's March/April 2014 edition.  You can click the link to see all of the awesome projects in the magazine.

I took the submission photos on a Summer's day.

Background -- Cotton Couture by Michael Miller in Stone
Waffles -- Squared Elements by Art Gallery

Quilty Magazine has lots of  block based projects in the latest prints and solids.  They really target confident beginners but they also satisfy those with more intermediate sewing skills as well.  Quilty has a contemporary vibe and is lots of fun.

OK...this is about all of the excitement I can take for a while.  :o)

great quilt and a fun name. are the waffle strips pieced in or laid on top and sewn down?

It's a fun quilt and the grey Art Gallery print makes the perfect border. Hmm, at first I thought that perhaps this was going to be one of your corduroy quilts. Wouldn't the waffles be fun in a mini wale cord in luscious colors?

What a lot of excitement it is! Your quilt makes me think of the bright, fun summer days ahead! Having made the block on your Caity Did bag, I know it's lots of fun to make, too! Congratulations on the publication, Stephanie!
Cheers!

A very cool quilt! It really does look like waffles ... actually like some waffle blocks my kids played with years ago that would fit together. Love the pile of waffle fabric, and the backing is so summery :) Wendy x

Another published pattern! It's a unique pattern and really looks terrific in the fabrics and colors you've chosen. No wonder it's featured. Plus who doesn't love waffles?

You had me at waffles. I love all things waffles and your gorgeous quilt is no exception! I LOVE it. It's so versatile. I can totally see it in a 2 color quilt. Red waffles, white background. Just like an antique quilt. You know me. Lol. Congratulations on the magazine! Awesomeness!!!!!

Congratulations Stephanie. It's a really lovely quilt. I like how it's almost underplayed with the colors and yet a very significant design with the criss-cross.

Beautiful new design, a daughter of the Caity Did bag! The almost no colour appeals to me, I'm very much a grey girl nowadays. You really are on your way to big fame!

I love this. I will have to look here in Australia for the magazine. If I don't find it, I shall make it up as I go along!

Wow! I didn't know you were being published in not one but two magazines.
This quilt is a beauty. Love the design and the fabric choices for both front and back.
Great pictures too.

I just saw this in the magazine and I am really impressed, the blocks are woven!! I didn't realize even though I read the post and commented on it originally. What a clever and fun block, I need to go back to the bookstore and buy this magazine (and not forget my wallet this time).
